2007 SEPTEMBER

Well just recently we have had the saga of Roswell Pits, these were up for sale , and no one of the Wild life, people or the R,S,P.B. OR THE Sailing club that is on the pits, so a Mr J Tyrrell came along and bought them for a Mariner, for long boats, but the bird watchers used to go there and look at the birds, well this man has put money where his mouth is and he is clearing alot of bushes and shrubs from the banks to moor his boats, and the bird watchers are up in arms over this, scaring the wild life away, you should hear them , well I BACK THIS MAN ,as he is going to bring money to ELY and the long boats or should I say narrow boats, will make allot of people wanting to look at them, in their colours all painted up, and the wild life will still be there, this man has worked with the fisher men and has made new fishing stands for them to fish from and made the banks at more slopping to wards the water, as before it was straight cliff like banks, mooring tie ups have been put in and when its completed it will be great to walk around, and the Council are staying on the side lines over this, as they did not have money to buy them, but in the future in this area they want to create a local park , and if its all joined up what a lovely place for everyone,

2007 SEPTEMBER 30TH, SUNDAY

Well lets keep on about Ely Council and no one seems to take on the task of get the biggest eye sore in Ely moving this man who owns this site is playing cat and mouse with them all, he has pulled down an old shop and wants to build a new one , the planes were past a year ago, and there it stands empty and no movement, the council seem to let him get away with it , and the public are up in arms over it and so are the local business men who are in the area, is it the same old story no one cares anymore, I think a strong letter to the council from a lot of people might push this in to being built on .

5--october--2007 ELY MARKET SQUARE, COUNCIL HAVE YOUR SAY.

Well yes I had my say, it's to do with this MEREHAM VILLAGE OR CITY, THAT IS GOING TO BE BUILT, well if it's stopped the government will make ELY take more houses, at a quicker rate, and that would spoil ELY in growing too fast, so I say let this project go a head, and let Ely grow at a slower rate, but there are a lot of people against this , all I can say is how did your village get there in the first place, it happened because some one started to build there in first place, that's how it always start, and everything else falls in place in time, and the next thing was the bypass at Angel drove, when is it going to start, if it doesn't come soon theres going to be all hell let loose, as the tail backs are bad now , and last Friday a lorry stuck under the bridge again, and what did we get tail backs to stuntney, and the round about, Cambridge road , do it now if not the cost will double, wake up councillors and get some letters flying around to the house of commons , well I did put my point of view,

18--10--2007 MEREHAM NEW VILLAGE TO BE BUILT,

Yes they keep on about this new village or town what ever you want to call it, but in the end it will be built, as we need houses for the workers, where ever it's built, in the area, the council have not got much say in this as it's government backed, and houses are needed for the work men that will employed in the new industrial buildings on Angel Drove, Lancaster-way, Mepal, littleport, Soham, Fordham, and Chettisham, yes all these places are building large hanger type workshops, me I am all for this project, but it may have to move to another location, around ELY, yes we do need the houses, at the right price,

25--10--2007 Mereham by the Mayor of ELY.

Well it looks as if he has gone truly put his foot in it this time, in-sighting civil disobedience to stop this project being built, and also referring to the Littleport Riots, well I as you a man in a respected position as he is and say things like that , I would expect him to resign over those words, all this was in the ELY WEEKLY NEWS, and more, maybe he would do better to put the centre of Ely in order before going to rural affairs that has nothing to do with him,

ELY HAS A NEW CAR PARK, IT COST ONE MILLION TO CONSTRUCT, 200 PARKING PLACES , Well this new car park , was built against public op pinion, the councillors would not listen, to what was being said, so another white elephant that's the rate payers will have to pay fore, this makes four white elephants now , NO 1, EEL TRAIL DISCS LET IN TO PAVEMENT, NO ONE SEES £ 11,000 NO 2 SUNDIAL ON ELY MARKET SQUARE NO ONE SEES PEOPLE WALK OVER IT £ 70,000 NO 3 DENVER SLUICE AS AN ART STRUCTURE, £120,000 NO,4 ELY NEWEST CAR PARK ANGEL DROVE,NO ONE USES £1000,000 TOTAL £1,190,000

ISN'T IT TIME OUR COUNCILLORS WERE BROUGHT TO BOOK, IN SPENDING MONEY , WITHOUT LI STERNING TO THE RATE PAYERS.
